The proprietary Oradel® platform is a line of oral delivery coating techniques offered to you by our company. These oral delivery technologies can be used individually or together to meet your custom delivery requirements.

Our Wurster coating capabilities allow us to add numerous coating layers to a core. These layers could be a simple coating formulation or could contain the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) itself. This multilayer coating gives rise to the ability to combine numerous release profiles into a single product. Our Wurster fluid bed coaters create the highest quality and uniformly distributed coating layers. This creates almost limitless possibilities when using our Oradel® platform.

Oradel®–MC

Oradel®-Multilayer Coating has many applications in the pharmaceutical industry. Multilayer coating could be used to apply a unique release profile to the active pharmaceutical core, but could also be used to deposit the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) onto the core itself. Oradel®-MC could also be used to combine numerous APIs into a single oral delivery dosage. The ability to coat a core with numerous layers allows for almost limitless product possibilities.

Our Oradel®-MC can be used with any one or more of our Oradel® Platform techniques to create the product you desire. Multiple coatings can separate release profiles allowing for a more targeted delivery in the body and sustained release for longer product efficacy. Because of the iterative process of a CPI Wurster coater the substrate can be coated as many times as necessary with unique formulations in each individual layer. This technology is also used in developing abuse deterrent products for controlled narcotic products. Oradel®-MC is one of our most versatile and requested technologies, often being paired with other proprietary Oradel® techniques.

Oradel®–XR

Oradel®-XR is our extended-release technology. Extended-release technology allows the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) to release steadily over an extended period of time. This technology can be used to ensure that the active drug is still being released when reaching the gastrointestinal tract. It can be released for a shorter amount of time such as 4-6 hours, or for a further extended period of time such as 8-10 hours. Coating Place is capable of using various approaches to create the extended-release profile that your project requires.

The matrix coating system allows for versatility in the creation of extended-release products. Relying on the porosity, solubility, or erosion characteristics of the matrix ensures that the API is released at the proper rates to create the desired release span necessary. This release mechanism can be triggered through a variety of means such as a pH, temperature, or solvent change.

Oradel®-XR technology can be paired with any number of other Oradel® techniques. Using a pH trigger for release may require a pairing with Oradel®-ER for an enteric release in the small intestine or with Oradel®-DR to last further into the gastrointestinal tract. A pairing with our Oradel®-MC could create multiple layers of releasing API, allowing for a longer release period. Contact us to learn more about how Oradel®-XR could be used on your project.

Oradel®–DR

Oradel®-DR is our delayed-release technology. Delaying the release of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) allows the product to pass through a specific part of the body whole or without release. Developers can bypass certain side effects such as stomach upset by delaying the API for release in the intestines.

Oradel®-DR can be further combined with Oradel®-XR technology to create a product that is delayed for a certain period of time or until a certain location in the body and then releases evenly over a specified time period. Contact us to learn more about how Oradel®-DR could be formulated for use in your next project.

Oradel®–EC

Our Oradel®-EC technology allows your active pharmaceutical ingredient to release when it reaches the small intestines and not in the stomach. Enteric coating a core ensures that the release is triggered through a change in pH when the product is digested through the stomach and into the duodenum and continues into the gastrointestinal tract. The change from the acidic location of the stomach and into the basic environment of the small intestine causes the coating to begin dissolving.

Enteric release is often chosen to avoid side effects such as stomach upset when release begins in the acidic environment of the stomach. Coating Place is capable of matching your enteric coat desires with other techniques such as Oradel®-XR and Oradel®-MC. A pairing with both Oradel®-MC and Oradel®-XR could create a product where release is triggered by the movement into the small intestines but slowly releases as it moves through the gastrointestinal tract. Oradel®–ION

Oradel®-ION is our ion exchange technology. Coating Place has extensive expertise and numerous patents in the area of controlled release using ion exchange technology. Since many active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) include an ionizable functional group, they are able to be ionically bound to a pharmaceutical ion-exchange resin possessing a functional group with an opposing charge. This results in an insoluble drug-resin complex (DRC) that can provide taste masking, improved bioavailability, or controlled release of the API in liquid suspensions, capsules, tablets, or other dosage forms. The release of an API from a DRC can be further customized by applying a film coating to achieve a wide range of possible release profiles. This melding of our entire Oradel® Platform shows the versatility available from Coating Place.

Coating Place combines expertise in formulations and manufacturing of DRCs, coatings, and liquid or solid oral dosage forms to provide complete solutions from concept to commercial manufacturing with our Oradel®-ION technology.
